There are two main types of Mechanical Face Seals:

Type DO: This type utilizes an O-ring as a secondary sealing element.
Type DF: Instead of an O-ring, this type employs an elastomer with a diamond-shaped cross-section as the secondary sealing element.
Both types consist of two identical metal seal rings that are face-to-face mounted in separate housings. The metal rings have a lapped seal face and are centered within their respective housings by an elastomer element. While one half of the Mechanical Face Seal remains stationary in the housing, the other half rotates along with its counter face.

These seals provide robust sealing performance and are vital for protecting machinery components from external contaminants, ensuring long-term reliability and durability in challenging operating conditions.
